Mark Saldana ‘15 - Greater Love Receives Dalhousie impact Awards
Mark always had an altruistic heart. He is the Founder of Greater Love Canada, a non-profit that helps homeless people in Halifax. Greater Love has over 100 members who volunteer their time giving food, respect, and friendship to those in need. Even during Covid, these amazing individuals were on the streets spreading kindness, compassion and handing out food to the homeless.
In March, Greater Love received the Dalhousie 10th Annual Impact Award. The award is an excellent recognition that the initiative truly appreciates. They have impacted and inspired many individuals and community organizations to give back, give time, give what you can to be kind, and spread love.
Greater Love is expanding, with a chapter in Kingston, ON. The goal was always to grow this incredible initiative with chapters across the country.
In Middle School, Mark volunteered at the IWK Health Centre, Feed Nova Scotia, and the Ronald McDonald House. Mark was named Top 4 Under 40 by My East Coast Experience Magazine in the Maritimes for starting and leading a team of young leaders in changing the culture in Canada.
Mark attended Dalhousie University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with the aspiration of entering the medical field. He shifted gears and decided to attend the Smith School of Business at Queen's University, where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration. Mark has recently accepted a position as the Director for the YMCA's Board of Directors for the Greater Halifax/Dartmouth area.
