Reading for pleasure is a critical element of gaining, and maintaining, literacy. While connecting readers to books they'll love is one of the greatest joys of a school or public librarian, sometimes you may just want a little help selecting those gems for your children yourself. To that end, the Halifax Public Library maintains lists of recommended reads from their collection (and all kinds of other great stuff!) for all age levels:



Incidentally, public libraries all over North America, Europe, and other parts of the world create versions of this, so if you have an internet connection, you can see what children from Vancouver, New York, Paris and Sydney, Australia are reading.
