Our debate team has had a super successful year so far.
In the Senior Division, our team of Alicia Leguizamon and Yoyo Ren defeated a team from Charles P. Allen School to win the Provincial Title.
Our team of Brendan McGinty and Annika Parkash placed 4th. Grade Nine student Xander Christian debated as a fill-in with a student from Sacred Heart. They placed 5th. Lillian Pappas, also debating with a Sacred Heart student, placed 6th. The top six teams qualified to represent Nova Scotia at the British Parliamentary National Championship later this year in Montreal.
In the Junior division, our team of Michael Sullivan-Mirza and Alex Yang defeated our team of Layan Alabdallat and Joyce Yu in the final round to win the Title. Both teams qualified to represent Nova Scotia at the British Parliamentary National Championship.
In addition, Marsel Shepard-Martinez, Maria Giannou, Keira Lee, Cade Tilley and former Grammar debate star and recent Princeton grad Gabriel Duguay, volunteered their time as judges, which really helped the event run smoothly.
